Whether you are planning an epic multi day shoot, complete with hired location, stylist, props, and a professional photographer or you’re simply setting aside some time to work on some images for your social media, take the time to plan. They will make a huge difference, helping you to shoot more efficiently and your images more effective.
What are the images for? Think about how you will use them? Do they need to be specific shape or need space so that text can be added? Head over to Abbe or Anita’s websites for inspiration on how they have used they images from a branding session.
What sort of mood do you want to create? How do you want your audience to think and feel?
What are your must-haves? Plan each shot in detail: from the message the image needs to portray to the props you might use. Think about the backgrounds you would like to use and the products you need to feature. Look at your website/catalogue/brochure, are there any specific shapes or dimensions you need.
Your story should be at the heart of every image. What is the story you are wanting to share with your audience.
Go back through your inspiration, vision boards. What do you love about what you have already pinned? How can you translate that to what you are doing now?
What type of of image will tell your story best? A flatlay? A room shoot? A close-up of a detail? Remember to think about how you are going to use the final image.
How do you do what you do? What are the details that make your business different?
What sets you apart from your competitors? What do you want your clients to know about what you do?
What props can you bring in to the image to create the feeling you want? Remember – you don’t want your props to distract from the focus of the image.
If you are styling and shooting images allow time to set up, make any changes and refine as you work.
When booking a Your Brand session with myself, we will go through all of these and more to help you to get the most out of your session. Beautiful images that bring your brand to life!
