Let Me Welcome You To Kathryn Goddard Photography.

I’m delighted you’re here! If we’re going to work together it’s important that we get to know each other. (The more fun we have, the more natural your lovely smiles will be.)

So grab a cuppa and let me tell you more about Kathryn Goddard Photography.

As well as being your friendly photographer, I’m a wife, a mother to two beautiful children, and the proud owner of a rescue lurcher called Beau. 

I’ve loved photography since I was a small girl.

I used to take snaps with my dad’s old film camera (and I’d quite often cut the poor cat’s head off. You’ll be happy to know that never happens now!)

I remember early holidays with my husband when I’d come home with 15 rolls of film to be developed. (I sometimes got a bit fixated with a stunning landscape!)

When our two wonderful children came along, I got my first digital camera.

I couldn’t wait to learn how to take gorgeous images of them, so we’d have memories to cherish forever. I started night school and got my qualifications. 

Photography soon became my absolute passion.

The first wedding I ever photographed …

Was our daughter’s reception teacher! To say I was nervous was an understatement. 

It was raining heavily, there were loads of family situations I needed to be aware of, plus there was a class-full of small children to juggle! 

Even with all those challenges, I loved every minute. The details, the joy, the happiness, the laughter and the love.

Then about 12 years ago, we moved to the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. 

I didn’t know anyone! I bravely decided to get out there and mingle. 

I started hanging out in networking groups, meeting so many amazing and inspiring people. I began to realise the importance of high-quality photographs to empower creatives and entrepreneurs. 

Using my skills, attention to detail and the ability to put people at ease, I’ve built up a business creating personal branding images, as well as the weddings and family shoots.

Can I share what I’ve learnt from my own experiences with photographers?

We got married in the days when wedding photography wasn’t a big thing. It was such a special November day – but I only have 26 photos to show for it. 

(Knowing what I know now, I would have invested so much more!)

As for having our own family photos taken, we’ve had those expensive shoots where we couldn’t afford to buy any of the photos. 
(I never do that with my own wonderful clients at Kathryn Goddard Photography. I keep my pricing accessible for you, with no sneaky charges.)

And we’ve had sessions where I felt a bit shy and my husband felt awkward. We ended up not printing a single image.
(That’s why I make sure you feel relaxed and at ease when you work with me. We have fun, like we’re just friends hanging out.)

Want to hear a few interesting facts about me?

As I get older, I’m learning to embrace that my hair is getting curlier! 

I enjoy a good book along with a gin or two. When I haven’t got a camera in my hand, you’ll find me baking brownies, going to gigs or spending time with loved ones. 

And of course, I’m often exploring the Forest of Dean with Beau. (No cameras! Just being present in the moment.)

I love colour! 

I’m thrilled when I see a colourful doorway, a red brick wall, long grass with wildflowers ... 

I also enjoy seeking out unusual spots for photos and making them work. (Because I want your pictures to be as original as you are.)

I love stories too.

Your stories! I still get excited when I’m asked to photograph a family, a wedding or to work with a brand. 

Each one is unique – because of you and your story. That’s what I love to capture, for you to remember and keep.
